FOCUS ON BLACK ART

African art is no longer somewhere on the margins of the Biennale. It appears in the main exhibition, in national pavilions, in major solo shows, and in quieter side spaces across Venice. The old question — “where is African art in Venice?” — already feels outdated. The better one is: which Africa, which histories, which voices are we willing to follow?

The Belvedere in Vienna is hosting the first European museum exhibition of the Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo.
